As you can imagine, there's a lot of work involved in turning bamboo shoots into socks. Crushed bamboo stems and leaves are soaked in caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) to break down these woody materials to produce bamboo viscose. This is then spun into yarn and woven into the super soft bamboo fiber socks we know and love.

What percentage of bamboo should it be?

Bamboo socks are often woven from a combination of bamboo threads and several other performance-enhancing materials such as polyamide (nylon) added for extra durability and elastane for added stretch and comfort. The higher the bamboo content, the softer and more antibacterial the sock.
